WHAT IS SKINSHEEK LYFT (HIFU) AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
SkinSheek"LiFT" is the only non-invasive treatment cleared by the FDA to actually lift the skin. HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. Without puncturing the skin's surface, this treatment can target various depths of the body's tissue for skin tightening, skin lifting and body contouring. HIFU technology boosts new collagen production and collagen regeneration right at the source. Collagen allows plumping of fine lines/wrinkles and tightening of the skin. It is sometimes called the the "Lunchtime Face Lift" as the treatment is quick and very tolerable.
- High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) directly delivers heat energy to targeted layers of the skin that can stimulate and renew the skin’s collagen. Consequently, improving the texture and reducing sagging of the skin
- This technique can be used on the face and body to achieve the results of a face-lift or body lift without any invasive surgery or injections. Does not involve any creams, fillers or toxins. It relies on your body's own collagen-building process for natural, noticeable results
- HIFU works for people of all skin colors, in contrast to that of lasers and the intense pulse lights
- HIFU energy penetrates much deeper than laser or RF energy, in an effort to effect superior tissue tightening and longevity of results by selectively targeting the SMAS layer
- These ultrasound waves penetrate deeper in to the tissues without affecting the epidermis and focus at a single point in the adipose tissue and cause thermal injury, in turn, creating collagen production.

Questions & Answers
How long does one treatment take?
- The length of the treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. The larger the area, the longer it will take. The more layers to target, the longer it will take.
- A face and neck treatment typically takes 90 minutes while an eye treatment takes approximately 15-30 minutes
- A body treatment will take longer. Each individual and treatment area varies.
What does the HIFU treatment feel like?
- Comfort levels vary from person to person. There may be a sensation of tingling and or warmth which only lasts while ultrasound energy is being delivered
- This discomfort is very brief and a good sign the collagen-building process has begun
- Treatments around the eyes and forehead and over any bony prominences tend to be more sensitive
- People with thicker skin or more dense areas will tolerate HIFU well
When will results be seen?
- You may see some initial effect with an inflammatory response, but the ultimate results will take place over 2-3 months as your body naturally regenerates collagen
- Since the treatment stimulates your own collagen production, how long the results last varies for each person
- The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but your natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside
- As the process of wound healing and collagen remodeling takes 2-3 weeks, the patient will see only 10% result in the 1st month, another 10% in the 2nd month and 80% result in the 3rd month
How many treatments will be needed?
- Some clients only need one treatment, however, based on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to ultrasound energy and the individual's collagen building process, most patients benefit from additional treatments. Typically, to get get to goal, 2-3 treatments are suggested based on the severity.
- Since the skin continues to age, future touch-up treatments can help clients keep pace with the body's natural aging process. Advanced aging/mature skin may need a touch up at the 1 year mark while others may need a touch up at the 2 year mark. Proper skincare and facials in addition to a healthy diet also play a role.
Are there any side effects?
- The skin might appear flushed at first, but typically disappears within a few hours
- Some clients may experience slight tempoary swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch
- Little to NO downtime
- Other less common post procedural effects may include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas of skin. However, most clients have no physical down time
- As with any cosmetic procedure, there is a possibility for rare effects. And although uncommon, serious complications can occur. Including the development of palpable subcutaneous nodules and/or motor nerve paresis. Fortunately, these effects are temporary and the areas of risk are blocked off during face mapping and avoided all together. Symptoms would occur within the first 1-12 hours after treatment and would resolve within 2-6 weeks. No permanent nerve injury has been reported to date.
